Agenart History

Agenart started with the idea to apply artificial intelligence to the visual arts. The intent was to have many intelligent agents who acted as the medium themselves - that is, moving pixels would be the intelligent agents. The plan was to have the agents interact with one another via movement and changing colors to allow visual patterns to emerge.

As Agenart was developed though, a few modifications were applied.

  • the data movement rules were reduced to pre-dedfined paths to allow them to be easily understood
  • the concept of agent paints was added to allow increased performance (for tablets) and to allow different visualizations
  • the palette was added where a set of colors were randomly iterated through - the palette colors were applied independently of path though

Future versions will try to get closer to the original intent - artificially intelligent painting agents. The following are the future plans.

  • Paths that have more physics based rules
  • Paints & Palettes that draw based on the state of the agent path
  • Additional path interaction rules - including the ability to transport agents between each other
